Birding with the X1.
A new tool for observing.
Packed into the X1 are a set of features to enable viewing, image and video capture, and logging your observations.
The baseline feature set.
Initially, to stay focused on launching a product with a solid baseline set of tools, we plan to include these features:
- 4X zoom full view or region of interest
- Capture snapshots and record video clips
- Overlays with coordinates and location info

Defining the next features set.
We see a lot of possibilities for expanding the initial tool set, but first we want to get inputs from experienced birders to help identify and pick the most useful features to add next. These might include:
- Field guides as on-screen overlays to help with bird identification
- Audio tools to capture and play bird calls while observing in the field
- Data logging tools to help citizen scientists participate in observing campaigns
- An API to allow developers to connect the X1 to research data bases and server systems
We plan to include a discussion area and possibly a voting system to help identify and select the most useful features to add.
